New Ipswich Town signing Daryl Murphy promises goals if Roy Keane plays him as a striker

Play me as a striker and I'll score goals for you.

That’s Daryl Murphy’s message to Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane, after signing on loan at Portman Road.

The Irishman has joined for the rest of the season and should make his debut in tomorrow’s Championship game against Middlesbrough.

The Waterford-born front man has not scored in two years for parent club Sunderland.

But he insists that if given a chance up front he’ll produce the goods.

“The number of games I’ve played as a winger doesn’t help,” he said.
