Colchester United have a selection dilemma for their big Essex derby with Southend United

Aidy Boothroyd has admitted he is facing a selection dilemma, ahead of the big Essex derby.

The Colchester United manager is preparing his troops for Monday’s televised showdown with rivals Southend United.

The U’s boss has been boosted by the return of defensive duo Christian Ribeiro and Paul Reid, ahead of the Coca-Cola League One clash.

Leading goalscorer Kevin Lisbie is also available to face the Shrimpers, after he sat out the midweek win over Carlisle United.

And with Kayode Odejayi and Ian Henderson impressing as second-half substitutes against the Cumbrians, boss Boothroyd has plenty to ponder.

He told the Gazette: “I’ve got a bit of thinking to do."

Otherwise good selection. No place for Izzet,or Wordsworth I see.

I would go along with that, plenty of width and pace.....shrimpers for the taking.....if we bang it high up field we will play into their hands more.
Prutton will get fitter over the next few weeks and we'll then see the best of him, Riberio and Lisbie wide would tear them apart! All we then need is a Swindon draw& Millwall to beat Norwich......Up the U's!

Aidy, if you do take up my dreamteam, can you leave a player upfront on corners/freekicks etc.
Stevie G was doing this last home game but then stopped after a while, then we got into problems by this, it takes two men out of the opposition. and gives us a chance to hold up the ball and clear the lines.

Why dont you send Aidy a card for his birthday on Monday and mention it. If you do he will send you back in return a photo of himself with his autograph signed on it. By the way hope all the South stand will sing happy birthday to him on Monday night.

I liked Surb's original suggestion,getting Lisbie wide on the right playing down the wing with Ribeiro and feeding crosses into Odejayi and Platt to finish, with Hackney on the left to get wing balls in supported by Tierney . With Midfield support without Wordsworth would be stronger. Anthony will have his day but he looked jaded the other night and looks as though he needs a rest. Yup, good squad , come on you U's let's make it 6 points out of 6 from the 'other' Essex side. We can do it! Up the U's!

They sure have! Swindon, Charlton drew, Leeds drew and Norwich lost... yes yes yes, but to hit it home we need to win Monday.
I agree with all above, Reidy in, Wordsworth must be replaced and just before kick off lets have a sing song of Happy Birthday to get the whole stadium going and up for it.
Come on the drum man get us all going. Up the U's!
