Clive Platt's headed goal with six minutes to go sealed Colchester United a fine 1-0 win at Millwall tonight.
Platt headed in Mark Yeates' cross to give the U's victory over the Lions at the New Den and their ninth win on their travels in the league this season.
Millwall had shaded an even first half.
Colchester goalkeeper Mark Cousins made a sharp save at his near post to deny Gary Alexander and both Pat Baldwin and Alan Maybury made key interceptions to deny the Lions.
The U's rarely threatened but they came close to taking the lead in the opening minutes of the second half when Millwall goalkeeper David Forde saved well from David Perkins.
David Martin headed over from close range for the home side but Colchester defended well and the home fans became frustrated with their side's inability to break them down.
And when Platt headed home in the closing stages, there was no way back for Millwall.
