MAY AND BAKER 4

HARWICH AND PARKESTON 2

Thurlow Nunn League

division one south

HARWICH conceded two late goals and were disappointed to lose a match from which they should have been able to get a result.

The Shrimpers nearly went behind in the first minute but recovered to take the lead in the 12th, when Shaun Gunn was brought down and Jordan Heath converted the penalty.

May and Baker then forced a series of corners to put their visitors under pressure.

Having survived, the Shrimpers went within inches of scoring a second when Bradley Westley crossed and Luke Barnard just failed to connect.

The home side then equalised in the 40th minute through Dan Gilchrist and disaster struck Harwich with Henry Osel's effort coming off the back of keeper Sam Felgate for the Shrimpers to trail 2-1 at half-time.

In the 60th minute, following good work by Gunn and Barnard, Michael Hammond equalised for Harwich.

Kieron Shelley's side were on top now but missed their chances to establish a good lead.

In the 85th minute, Harwich were made to pay with James Barlow breaking away to put May and Baker back into the lead and a minute later the Shrimpers were caught out again with Elliott Carter ensuring the home side took three points.

On Saturday, Harwich entertain Fire United at the Royal Oak (kick-off 3pm).

Their opponents are based in Lewisham and play in Plaistow.

Their team contains players mainly from the Brazilian community in London.
