A TRIO from Colchester Swimming Club were in the medals at the British Masters Championships, in Plymouth.

Simon Emm, James Heathcote and Katie Holmes were all in fine form, as hundreds of the best Masters swimmers from across the country took part.

Emm won five medals in total, triumphing in both the 100 metres and 200m butterfly.

Despite being second in the 50m butterfly and 1500m freestyle, he also recorded Eastern Region records and personal bests (PB) in both events.

He also came third in the 400m freestyle and rounded-off a successful weekend with a PB, in the 100m freestyle.

Heathcote swam three PB times, securing bronze medals in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke.

Holmes won the 200m breaststroke comfortably and against some very good competition, also came second in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke.

The British Masters Championships are the highlight of the Masters swimming domestic calendar.

More than 700 swimmers aged between 18 and 80 competed in 47 different individual events.
