COLCHESTER Swimming Club members took home more than 50 medals after excelling at the Braintree and Bocking Spring Festival.

A total of 45 of the club's swimmers took part in a competitive meet, winning a total of 13 gold, 21 silver and 22 bronze medals and registering a number of personal bests (PB).

Alfie Francis led the way with an inspiring performance, winning seven medals (five gold, one silver and one bronze) and receiving the ‘top boy award’.

Colchester SC coach Chloe Rudkin said: “Alfie Francis’ performance was very impressive and being named ‘top boy’ is a fantastic accolade.

"There were so many incredible swims and it was wonderful to see our members cheering on their team-mates.

"The team spirit displayed by the whole squad helped make the meet really special.”

In the nine year old age group, Harrison Brook took gold (49.40 seconds) in the 50 metres breaststroke and Alexander Cottrell claimed bronze (52.96s).

Brook also won silver in both the 50m freestyle (38.35s) and 50m butterfly (46.74s), as well as winning bronze in the 50m backstroke (45.16s), to cap a fine individual display.

Anjali Tuckwell won silver in the 50m butterfly (41.24s) and Gabrielle Cornish secured bronze, in the 50m breaststroke (54.61s).

For the ten year olds, Lyla Belshaw won 100m breaststroke bronze and Aila Manning achieved the county time with a two-second PB in the 50m breaststroke (49.46).

In the girls' 11 year old age group, Sadie Rowe won 50m breaststroke gold (44.59s) and 100m breaststroke bronze (1:39.77).

Evie Scott (100m backstroke) and Isobel Easteal (50m backstroke) claimed silver in 1 minute 29.26s and 41m 21s respectively.

Amy Milburn clocked PBs in the 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke and 100m freestyle.

Keziah Cornish won silver in the 50m backstroke (35.87s) and bronze in the 200m IM (2m 58.01s) and 100m backstroke (1m 19.16s).

Molly Redgrace was impressive for Colchester SC's 13 year old girls, winning two gold in the 100m backstroke (1m 11.02s) and 200m freestyle (2m 18.37s) and silver in the 200m IM (2m 36.33s), 100m butterfly (1m 18.16s) and 50m backstroke (34m 06s).

Alanna Brosnan won50 breaststroke bronze (41.43) with a two-second PB achieving the county time, which she also gained in the 50m backstroke, while Hannah O’Malley smashed her 200m IM PB by six seconds.

Colchester's boys dominated in the 13 year age group and secured a spectacular 1-2-3 in the 50m breaststroke.

Alfie Francis won gold (34.45s) ahead of Kalaum Corani (35.76s) and Mark Milburn (38.54s).

In the 100m breaststroke Francis (1m 15.75s) stormed to gold ahead of second-placed Corani (1m 19.72s).

Mark Milburn claimed 200m freestyle gold (2m 22.47s) as did Francis in the 100m freestyle in 1m 06.00s, with Daniel Himsworth (1m 08.54s) securing bronze.

Francis won bronze (29.22s) in the 50m freestyle while in the 200m IM, Corani was victorious with a six-second PB and county time and George Wallace (2m 50.98s) won bronze.

In the 50m butterfly, Francis (31.31s) won ahead of Corani (32.09s) and also claimed gold in the 100m butterfly (1m 08.53s) with Corani securing bronze with a five-second PB and county time (1m 13.07s).

In the 50m backstroke, Francis (35.20s) finished narrowly ahead of Mark Milburn (35.67s) to take silver and bronze respectively, with Milburn swimming a two-second PB improvement on his county time.

In the 100m backstroke, George Wallace (1m 17.85s) was second ahead of team-mate William Easteal who won bronze (1m 19.42s).

Joseph Guild caught the eye in the 14 year old age group, bagging silver in the 50m freestyle (27.91s) and 50m butterfly (32.13s) along with 100m freestyle bronze (1m 07.59s) and 200m IM (2m 51.29s).

Further bronze medals were won by Christopher Thompson (50m breaststroke, 36.26s and 50m backstroke, 34.67s), as well as Owen Williams in the 100m butterfly (1m 24.18s).

For the girls, Suranna Tuckwell claimed 200m IM silver (2m 58.56s).

In the 15 years and over category, club captain Ana Victoria Anderson led the way with gold in the 200m IM (2m 40.91s) and 200m freestyle (2m 22.39s) and silver in the 100m butterfly (1m 20.18s) and 100m freestyle (1m 06.54s).

Annie Bayliss won bronze in the 100m backstroke (1m 16.62s).

For the boys, Connor Wilken won two silvers, registering a 16-second PB in the 200m freestyle (2m 20.08s) and a nine- second PB (whilst achieving the county time) in the 100m backstroke (1m 09.43s).

He also secured 50m breaststroke bronze (37.92), achieving the county time.
