COLCHESTER Harriers' Ramadan Osman was in superb form to win the Essex Track 5,000 metres Championship title.

He clocked a time of 15 minutes 29 seconds to be crowned champion, at Chelmsford.

Following his achievement, he was duly presented with the Atalenta Cup which was first presented in the early 1900s.

Over-45 runner Aiko Hennington is in fine form, despite coming back from injury.

She won the Harwich five-kilometre race in 18m 48s and the Colchester 10km in 39m 10s.

Lucy Mapp was runner-up behind Hennington in 40m 11s and Heidi Steele was second at the Maldon 5km.

Allen Smalls continued his amazing marathon run to finish fourth overall in the Essex Championship at Halstead in a time of two hours 48m 58s.

He was also third Essex runner to claim the county individual bronze and the over-50 gold medal.

Doug McGillivay is in fine form, winning the Maldon 5km in 16m 14s and finished third at the Colchester 10km and first veteran in 34m 48s.

In the same race, second claim Jordan Middlemist swept to victory in 34m 27s, with Nathan Filer (34m 46s) runner-up with Richard Heath (35m 18s) fifth and Danny Millward (35m 50s) sixth.

Colin Ridley finished seventh and first veteran over 55 in 36m 31s.

The Elite Twilight 5km saw Tom Cresswell lead the Harriers home in a time of 16m 58s and was also third at the Harwich 5km in 17m 16s.

James Waterson had a personal best (PB) of 17m 47s, as did Alex Sales in 17m 38s.

Peter West continues to run through his injuries, clocking 18m 03s and youngster Joseph Boden beat his best-ever time (17m 51s).

Danny Millward was runner-up at the Maldon 5km, in 16m 42s.

At the park runs, Debbie Cattermole and Richard Flutter set new age records at Felixstowe, while Denise Morley won Mersea and Cheryl Appleby stormed to victory at the Dolgellau event in Wales.
