Colchester United have completed the permanent signing of midfielder Brandon Comley from QPR on a two-and-a-half year deal.

The 22-year-old has made 23 appearances in all competitions for the U's since joining them on loan from the Championship club, last August.

Comley, whose loan spell at the Weston Homes Community Stadium ended after their 3-1 loss at Wycombe Wanderers last weekend, has been a regular under head coach John McGreal.

And he has now made his switch permanent, agreeing a contract with Colchester until the summer of 2020.

Speaking earlier this month, Comley said: “At the moment, with the way it’s going I’d love to stay longer.

“I’m really enjoying my time here and I wouldn’t turn my nose up if someone asked me if I wanted to stay.

“I feel like I’m playing alright at the moment and I don’t think I’ve had a bad spell since I’ve been here.

“I’m enjoying my football and that it’s the main thing.

“As a kid, you play football because you enjoy it and that shouldn’t stop.

“I’m loving playing as much as I am and hopefully, it’ll continue.”

Comley, who made three substitute appearances for QPR’s first team during his time in West London, also had loan spells at Grimsby Town and Carlisle United prior to joining Colchester on loan.

Comley joins Maldon duo Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe and Ryan Gondoh in joining the U's in the current transfer window.
