ADAM Harper and Tom Rothery were victorious in Colchester Golf Club’s festive three clubs and a putter competition.
Held in the dark days between Christmas and New Year, the weather, true to expectation, was indeed foul and a number of the competitors did not complete the course.
This did not worry eight-handicappers Harper and Rothery who, using the unique scoring system of a multiple of their stableford scores, rattled in a score of 60 points to take first spot.
Their highlight, undoubtedly, was on the short par three fourth hole where both had par threes with shots, giving them a total of nine points.
Adjudged second were Mickey Potter (nine) and John Redden (seven), who returned 56 points on a day with tough conditions for golf.
In third place were Sam Jackson (nine) and Arian Masud (eight), just the one shot behind them on 55.
