SIMON Emm secured six gold medals and smashed a regional record at the Eastern Region Masters Championships in Newmarket.

The Colchester Masters swimmer was in superb form at the event, which saw the leading Masters swimmers from Essex, Suffolk, Bedfordshire and Norfolk take part.

Emm broke the regional record he posted last year, in the process of winning the 200 metres butterfly.

The Colchester Masters team posted some excellent swims, with some well-fought races and many personal best (PB) times.

They came away with 13 gold, eight silver and two bronze medals.

James Heathcote had an excellent day in the pool, winning three gold, two silver and a bronze medal.

Fellow Colchester Masters swimmers Katie Holmes, Damian Navarrete and Rob Milburn also competed at the event.

The next stop for the team is the National Masters in Sheffield, later this month.
