COLCHESTER Swimming Club members are preparing to take part in a series of prestigious competitions.

Nine of the club's swimmers have qualified for three separate British and National summer championships, in Sheffield.

Sisters Martha and Ellie Duley will be among the five Colchester SC swimmers to take part in the British Summer Championships, which begin next Tuesday.

The top 24 swimmers in each event in each age group across Britain will compete over six days of competition.

Martha (18) is competing in five events and Ellie (17) in two.

Sophie Freeman (13) will be in action in seven events, along with Olivia Norman (15) competing in four events and Asma Parker (14) in one.

Colchester SC's Sam Whearty (15) has qualified for five events at the British Para Championships, which runs in conjunction with the British Summer Championships.

The National Open Water Championships then take place on 30-31 July, with Charlotte Tree (13) and Charlotte Norman (12) both qualifying for the 1.5 kilometre event.

Colchester's female swimmers will also take part in the ASA Summer Nationals, from August 2-6.

The next 20 ranked swimmers in each event/age group compete: Martha Duley (one event), Ellie Duley (one event), Olivia Norman (four events), Abbie McCarthy (one event), Asma Parker (one event), Sophie Freeman (six events).
