STACEY Ellis claimed the Ladies Singles title for the fifth time in six years as the Colchester and District Darts League held its annual Finals Night.

The Coopermen player beat The Ale House's Deb Sim 2-1, to land the trophy at Greenstead Social Club.

Sim took the first leg but a few missed darts at a double in the second leg allowed Ellis the chance to level the match. Both players missed doubles in the final leg, before Ellis took the title.

In the Men's Singles division one and two semi-finals, Eastgates' Wayne Bloomfield took on Keith Farthing of Bergholt SC in a best-of-five match.

Bloomfield took a 2-0 lead and although Farthing shot out a ton plus finish on the Bull, Bloomfield took the next leg to win the match 3-1.

Grapes' Lee Woods beat Coopermen's Dean Bareham 3-1 to book his place in the final.

Both players were a little nervous, missing doubles in each leg before Woods took the fourth leg to win the match 3-1.

Woods and Bloomfield duly went head to head in the Mick Ladbrook Men's Singles division one and two best-of-five final.

Woods started well and took the first leg, showing no sign of nerves from his semi-final win.

But this gave Bloomfield the push that he needed as he carried on from his Pairs title win.

He took the next three legs including a 15 dart leg to claim the Men’s Singles title 3-1 and secure a Singles and Pairs double.

Paul Smedley (Eight Bells) came up against Chequers' in-form Michael Hancocks in the Captains Cup, going down 2-0 in the final.

In the John and Jean Lay Fours, Bergholt SC and Anchor Inn went head to head.

Missed doubles cost the Anchor, as Bergholt SC won 2-0 to claim the title.

Darren Nugent and Dave Monk (Queens Head B) lost 2-0 to Malcolm Hards and Michael Hancocks of Chequers, in the Iceni Pairs Final.

The Boadicea Pairs Final was a tight match with last season’s winners, Adam Howard and Coen Wiekamp (Grapes) going up against Wayne Bloomfield and Dave Kempen of Eastgates.

The best-of-five match was the first of the evening to go the full distance, before Bloomfield and Kempen won 3-2 to put a new name on the trophy.

Nugent (Queens Head B) had his chance to get revenge over Chequers' Hancocks, in the John Ward Singles.

Nugent, after a few years away from the game, showed he could play against the best but Hancocks won 2-0 to retain his title.
