WIVENHOE Tennis Club junior team have started the new season as they finished the last - with a resounding victory.

The newly-promoted side were victorious at Chelmsfordians in their opening game in AEGON Team Tennis Essex under-16 division one.

All of Wivenhoe's boys won their respective singles matches, before Sam Dewey and Miles Black teamed up to win their doubles and Jasper van der Wolf-Ong and Salvatore Quadrone matched their success.

Wivenhoe TC are currently experiencing good times in all areas and can to provide social tennis for players.

It currently fields seven different teams in the Colchester and District League, along with two in the Colchester Friendly League.

All of these teams have junior players participating and Wivenhoe TC firmly believes in providing opportunity to juniors to participate in senior tennis.

They have very recently managed to acquire access to software allowing players who compete in the singles league to attain Lawn Tennis Association ranking points.

Throughout next month, Wivenhoe TC host a series of evenings aimed at those who either want to return to playing tennis or just give it a go.

The sessions take place on Thursday evenings throughout May from 6-7pm and all are welcome to attend.

There will be no charge but appropriate sports shoes and attire should be worn.

Players will be on hand to assist where required and professional tennis coach Jamie Champion will be available to provide detail of his coaching sessions and give advice regarding modern racquets.

The club have four excellent hard surface tennis courts all with floodlighting situated at Broad Lane, Wivenhoe.
