MARGARET Carter was a clear winner of Colchester Golf Club's ladies stableford.

Carter finished seven points clear of the rest of the field after amassing 32 points from the 14 holes played.

Missing out the four valley holes, she got a regulation ten points from the five holes played on the front nine.

However, it was the back nine where Carter accelerated away from the rest of the field of forty-four ladies.

With her 24 handicap, she amassed 17 points after six holes, including a four for four on the 12th.

Bogeys on the next two holes added another five points and a blob on the last hardly mattered.

Daphne Bloomfield (31) was runner-up with 25 points ahead of third-placed Beverley Parker (21), who scored 24 points.

In fourth place with 23 points was Marilyn Free (31), while there were six ladies who all returned 22 points led by Sara Cock (30).

She was followed by Sharon Manby (30), Janet Tebbutt (25), Fiona Prentice (20), Pat Kettle (18) and Linda Freeman (19).
