PLUNGING temperatures led to problems with tonight's non-league football fixtures.

The Ryman League division north match between Heybridge Swifts and Wroxham was postponed due to a frozen pitch, as was the League Challenge Cup tie between Stanway Rovers and Felixstowe and Walton United.

Brightlingsea Regent and Bowers and Pitsea met in the Alan Turvey Trophy, sponsored by Robert Dyas.

However, the tie had to be abandoned, again due to a frozen pitch, with the score 1-1.

Harry McDonald scored the Regent goal.

One game of note that did go ahead was in the League Challenge Cup as Coggeshall Town won 2-0 at Ipswich Wanderers.
