ANNA Dearing clocked a new personal best as Colchester Rovers riders took part in an Eastern Counties Cycling Association (ECCA) time trial contest.

Dearing secured a new best (PB) of 22 minutes 15 seconds, for the ten-mile route on the E2 Newmarket course.

Edmund Spurgeon clocked 23m 58s, Len Benton 24m 30s and Keith Clarke, back from injury, posted 25m 41s.

The winning time was a scorching 19m 55s by Southend Wheelers' James Jenkins.

Dearing also rode the ECCA 3-up time trial on the 24-mile E22 circuit alongside Chris Hamblion, with the duo marking up a time of 1h 00m 56s.

Colchester hosted round three of the Eastern Cyclocross League, as riders headed to Hilly Fields for the Amis Velo Supacross meeting.

The youngest Rovers faced a tough day at the office in the shape of a a long track around the lower field of the two-mile course.

George Collins was second in the under-eight boys on his cyclocross debut while in the girls' race, Phoebe Ollett just missed out on a podium finish.

The under-ten boys saw a fabulous ride from James Morrison who was third with William Smith just outside the medals.

Daisy Emerson was second overall in the under-ten girls' race ahead of club-mate Matilda Challinor.

In the under-12 boys' race, George Davies was first Rover in seventh place, while first female Rover home was Isabella Djuve-Wood with an excellent third-place finish, just ahead of Chloe Ollett and Lizzie Wellstead.

A total of 60 riders took part in the youth race, with a large field of 60 riders tackling a longer course.

Oli Partner continued his good start to the season with a powerful-looking 11th place, while Dan Hall was 19th.

David Triggs finished 14 seconds and one place ahead of Hall, finishing 36th in a full Veteran 50+ and women's field, while Laura Mansel-Thomas had another good outing finishing eighth Women Veteran.

In the Veteran 40-49 race, first Rover home was Greg Andrews in 21st, closely followed by Alex Stepney (24th).

Andrew Hopper, Jason Taylor, Ian Mansel-Thomas and James Emerson followed after battling through the tough circuit where it was hard to settle into a rhythm.

A quartet of Rovers riders started in a big field of 73 riders in the Senior/Junior race.

James Baldwin finished as leading Rovers rider in 27th spot, just ahead of Nick Flexman and Stuart Weatherly while Martin Smith was 47th.
