IN-FORM hot-shot Adam Mills has modestly attributed his prolific scoring streak to his MALDON AND TIPTREE team-mates.

The 19-year-old left-sided player is currently leading goalscorer in Ryman Division North, having hit an impressive eight league goals for the Jammers in the opening weeks of the campaign.

Mills hit a hat-trick in Maldon’s 5-1 thrashing of Romford last weekend and will be looking for more goals when his side host WITHAM TOWN tonight, at Park Drive.

Mills said: “It’s a massive thing for me to be top of the goalscoring charts and I’m proud to be up there.

“I’ve set myself a target of getting at least 20 goals this season and hopefully I’m on my way to achieving that.

“I’ve been in the right place at the right time and it all comes from the other players.

“They know what I’m capable of in the air and we’ve built up a really good understanding.

“I had a good pre-season and I’ve just gone on from there.

“I’m really enjoying it and I love being at Maldon and playing under (manager) Kevin Horlock.

“I was with him previously at Needham Market and it’s a massive thing to play under him.”

While Witham bowed out of the the FA Cup with a disappointing display at Beaconsfield SYCOB on Saturday, they have made a solid start in the league and will be hoping to bag a fifth division one win in a row when they visit the Jammers.

It is a start that has helped Witham move on from a difficult campaign last year when they were battling against relegation throughout, however, boss Adam Flint isn't allowing his team to think too far ahead.

He said: “The club only got 42 points last season and we’re already on 13, but we haven’t changed our targets.

“We had a vision at the start of the season that if we could be in the top ten at Christmas then we could see where we’d go from there, but we’re not getting ahead of ourselves.

“We have to keep breaking it down.

“I don’t look to see who we have got in two weeks time as I’m fully focused on what’s immediately ahead of us.

“We’re only six games in and we have to keep feet on the ground.”
