COLCHESTER West End’s Nigel, Jacob and Sam Roberts with John Marshall have won the County North Essex Fours title.

West End were one down on the first end against Chelmsford at Romford BC after skip Sam moved the cot with his wood touching the jack and a tied end was declared.

But West End did not look back and at ten ends were 19-1 up on shots.

The game continued their way and despite dropping five shots on the 17th end, the contest was conceded on the 18th end as West End won 31-7 on shots.

In the North West Essex League Triples match, West End played neighbours Arclight with mixed fortunes at home.

At home, a close game ensued with just one shot difference to West End.

West End were ten shots down at the 12th end away but came back and missed out by six shots overall, losing 24-18.

In the Boro triples, West End A had a tight game playing Mersea Island A.

There was just one shot difference overall, in West End’s favour.

In the Boro Triples, West End B played Mersea Island C and claimed victory on both rinks, winning 38-23 on shots overall.

In the final game of the Boro Fours season, West End A were unable to field three rinks at Three Clubs.

West End started with a 21-shot and two-point advantage.

D Fisher, M Lace, J Newland and Sam Roberts were consistent throughout and won 25-16 on shots.

But T Hall, V Churchyard, D McKillop and Dan Rodger had a fight on their hands to contain Three Clubs.

And despite drawing close, they went down 21-15 on shots to D Dent, D Gillard, G Kerridge and Peter Clench.

In the Boro Fours, West End B were unable to lose their relegation spot in division one, despite gaining seven points out of maximum eight.

West End played two fixtures in the Sudbury Mixed Triples League, with mixed results in both games.

They claimed just one winning rink against Cornard, which was not enough to claim the overall shot difference.

They could only claim two points.

But the tables were turned against Mistley as West End won on two rinks to claim a 4-4 draw, with the teams level 44-44 on overall shots.
