MALDON Golf Club's men's section contested the Rover Cup.

The full handicap medal competition attracted an entry of 50 members, who enjoyed warm, sunny and calm conditions.

Andy West returned an excellent score of nett 68 to win the trophy.

This followed his runner-up slot on countback in last week's Jubilee Cup competition.

These two results have seen West's handicap cut from 18 to 16.

There was a countback for second and third places on nett 69, with Alan Syrett just edging out Bill Guthrie.

Keith Locke took fourth on countback from Marley Read, after both players scored nett 71.

Elliot Hawkins won the nearest-the-pin prize on the par three fifth/14th hole, while Nigel Cook took the prize for the closest second shot on the par four sixth/15th.

The August monthly medal was won by Jordan Crozier, on nett 68.

Jonathan Wenlock was second, on nett 73, and Bill Guthrie third, with nett 74.

Maldon's seniors section competed for the Ron Cook Trophy.

Chris Pratt was the winner by six clear shots with a fine nett 67.

Second place went to Mike Worden, on nett 73, while Mark Scott was third, with 74, on countback from seniors' captain Eric Bane.

Maldon ladies' Summer Trophy was won by lady captain Mary King, with 31 points.

Sue Gardiner was second and Kate Stevenson third.
