SOME of the best players in the world will converge on Prested Hall Real Tennis Club next month for the IRTPA Professional Doubles.

The major real tennis doubles event, which takes place between July 8-11, is open to any professional player from around the world.

This year’s event looks set to be a good one, with some of the best players in the world taking part.

Rob Fahey, regarded as the sport's best player of all time who has only recently lost his world champion crown, will be in action.

Claire Fahey - Rob’s wife - who is the current ladies world champion and is regarded as the greatest-ever female player, will also be in action.

Prested Hall will also welcome Leamington head pro and current British number one, Ben Taylor-Matthews.

An exciting qualifying event will be held on the Friday of the event, in which ex-real tennis and racquets world champion Howard Angus MBE, will compete.

This will be followed by a welcoming cocktail party.

A host of young players from across the country will also take part in the event.

Prested Hall have also announced that they will host next year's Real Tennis World Doubles Championship.

The event will take place from April 18-23 and will feature the top players from around the world.

Prested Hall’s Real Tennis Professional Richard Smith said: "The World Doubles Championship is the biggest doubles event in the sports calendar and is shaping up to be a fantastic event.

"The current world champions Camden Riviere and Tim Chisholm will be defending their title against players such as Rob Fahay and Steve Virgona who have won the six previous championships together.

"It will be a really competitive event."
