FRINTON Lawn Tennis Club hosted the Fast4 men's grade four county level doubles event, on their newly-opened grass courts at Holland Road.

The elite male players lined up for some explosive matches, filled with thrills and drama.

In the first, Colin Minter joined forces with Tony Sharman to play Mark Grover and lead coach Chris Harris.

Grover and Harris took the honours, beating their team-mates 4-1, 4-3.

In the second match, Kristian Fulcher paired up with coach Alex Brown and stormed to a 3-0 lead against Grover and Harris in one of the games - only to have their lead snatched away at match point.

Their scores were 4-3, 4-2 respectively.

In the third and final match, Grover and Harris played Harry Ketteringham and Cameron Whiting, beating them 4-2, 4-1, coming out as the overall winners in the mini tournament.

Some unusual rules applied, including no lets and sudden death scoring, to add to the excitement in the tournament play.

Also, in the ten and under Frinton team, Alex Skinner, Alasdair Main, Filey Hardes and Ben McInnes won their latest match convincingly in the Aegon County League.

They competed at home against Dedham, winning in style, 8-0.

With three wins out of three so far, Frinton's juniors travel to Chelmsford in two weeks' time for what will likely be their toughest match in the division to date.

They have played some very spirited tennis to reach their current standing and are looking forward to the forthcoming challenges, remaining hopeful for a good outcome from the next away fixture.

They congratulated their Dedham opponents, but hit outstanding form to take the much-coveted points on the day.
