PROMOTION-CHASING STANWAY ROVERS were held to a 1-1 draw at Mildenhall Town.

Angelo Harrop’s side had won 13 of their previous 14 Thurlow Nunn League matches but had to be content with a point on this occasion.

They took the lead via an own goal but were pegged back six minutes from time.

Second-placed Stanway have trimmed the lead on leaders Norwich United – beaten 2-1 at home to Godmanchester Rovers – to 11 points.

They also have a game in hand on the Norfolk side.

Elsewhere in the premier division, FC CLACTON completed back-to-back wins after sinking Swaffham Town 4-1.

Trailing at the break, the Seasiders stormed back thanks to skipper Aaron Condon’s penalty and a close-range finish from Karl Andrade.

Substitute Jordan Brazitis added their third with a cool finish that went in off the left-hand post.

And Ben Parkin smashed home their fourth in the closing stages to seal a comprehensive victory.

BRANTHAM ATHLETIC started a run of three straight away games with a fantastic 1-0 victory at Long Melford.

Their winning goal was a 25-yard screamer from Sean Gunn.

In division one, HALSTEAD TOWN kept up their promotion challenge with a 4-1 victory at home to Diss Town.

After falling behind against the run of play, Sam Cripps netted twice to put the Humbugs in charge at the break and more goals followed from Marcus Warren, from the spot, and substitute Jake Brown.

BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES visited Dereham Town Reserves and cruised to a 6-1 victory.

Leaders WIVENHOE TOWN played on Friday night and beat AFC Sudbury Reserves 2-0, thanks to a brace from Adam Hampson.
