Braintree and District Athletic Club had a medal-winning trio of jumpers in the dual Essex and Eastern AA Indoor Championships at Lee Valley.
The success started in the morning session, with Ryan Morgan winning the silver medal in the Essex under-17 men’s long jump with a leap of 5.58 metres.
Then in the afternoon, he added two more medals by winning the Essex and Eastern titles in the under-17 men’s triple jump with a new indoor personal best (PB) of 12.83m.
The weekend before, Morgan had also taken the number one podium spot in the London Games under-17 men’s triple jump.
Charlie Shingleton was the next to achieve his first major medal of the indoor season by taking bronze in the men’s long jump with a distance of 6.07m, which was once again a new indoor long jump PB.
The third Braintree athlete to gain a podium place was Melissa Gurteen, who took the silver medal in the Essex under-17 women’s triple jump and Eastern bronze with a leap of 9.25m.
