BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT boss James Webster hopes to see more of his side as an attacking force in tonight’s FA Trophy replay at home to Thamesmead Town.

The R’s secured a replay following their 1-1 draw in the preliminary-round tie on Saturday.

Webster was delighted with his side’s defensive display, against a side managed by former Maldon & Tiptree boss Terry Spillane.

However, he hopes that with home advantage, his players will be able to express themselves at the other end of the pitch.

“We did really well on Saturday,” said Webster.

“We went there with a game-plan and executed it well, getting men behind the ball and being hard to break down.

“We could have nicked it at the end, too, and had a couple of late chances.

“I was certainly pleased with the result and the lads did what we asked of them.

“However, we weren’t really able to express ourselves in an attacking sense.

“With the home crowd behind us and on our own pitch, that’s something I hope to see more of tonight.”

The winners of tonight’s game already know they will be at home to Ramsgate - 3-2 conquerors of Maldon on Saturday - in the first qualifying round on 31.

“I don’t even want to think about that,” added Webster.

“We’ve got a big enough task on our hands trying to get through tonight’s game.

“Thamesmead are a very good side, with a lot of quality players and an excellent manager in Terry Spillane. It’ll be tough.”

Warren Joseph is back at North Road, having re-signed following a spell with Thurlow Nunn League side Brantham Athletic.

Skipper Matt Cripps should also be fine to play, having recovered from a hamstring injury.

He got through all 90 minutes on Saturday.

Jake Gould is available, having missed out at the weekend, but Brendan Heath cannot play as part of the loan arrangement with Needham Market.

Meanwhile, admission prices will be reduced for Saturday’s Ryman League match at home to Soham Town Rangers.

This is part of National Non-League Day, where football followers are encouraged to get behind their local clubs in the absence of Premier League or Championship matches.

An early-bird scheme will be in place whereby anyone arriving before 2pm will be allowed in for the cheaper prices of £5 and £3 (concessions).

Draught beer will be £2.50 a pint and there will also be free programmes, mascots and a “dizzy” penalty challenge at half-time.

In the Ryman League north division tonight, HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS are away to Bury Town.

MALDON & TIPTREE are at home to Leiston in the second round of the Alan Turvey Trophy, sponsored by Robert Dyas.
