JORDAN Pavett grabbed a last-gasp winner as WITHAM TOWN sunk BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT 3-2 in tonight’s FA Cup preliminary round replay at North Road.

With extra-time looming, the substitute found himself in on goal and coolly slotted past goalkeeper Andy Plummer to set up a first qualifying round tie at Thurrock.

It was cruel luck for Regent, who had come from behind twice during an exciting game.

Witham broke the deadlock ten minutes before the break when Danny Emmanuel swept home from close range, after a low, left-wing cross from Ryan Charles.

But Brightlingsea levelled in the closing seconds of the half, following a marauding run from centre-half Matt Cripps.

The ball was partially headed clear but Lamell Howell volleyed into the top right-hand corner from the edge of the box, for his second Regent goal.

It was Witham who went back in front on 54 minutes, following another goal from Emmanuel.

The wide man showed quick feet before producing a smart finish that was still rising as it hit the back of the net.

However, Regent were in no mood to surrender and equalised again on the hour-mark.

Midfielder Luke Read steered the ball home after it fell kindly for him in the box.

Extra-time looked on the cards until Pavett’s late intervention won the tie for Garry Kimble’s side.
