Club captain Chris Porter has extended his stay at Colchester United.
The 31-year-old striker, whose existing deal had been due to expire at the end of the current season, has penned a new contract until the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
Porter, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, joined the U's last January from Sheffield United and played a big part in helping them stay in League One last season.
Porter told the U's website: "I am delighted to have committed my future to the club.
"I have been here and settled in quickly and I have enjoyed the role of captain so far this season.
"I am being back fit and looking forward to a more successful season this time around."
