BOB Bloomfield (pictured) held off strong competition to win Colchester Golf Club’s Millennium Trophy.

Bloomfield, playing off a handicap of 12, returned 42 points to edge out Jo Mager (19) on countback at the club’s annual Millennium Week, where members and their guests contest daily sponsored events.

Steve Moore (17) and Richard Watts (13) finished third and fourth respectively, with 40 points.

Five players returned 38 points, with Mark Hills (17) finishing fifth ahead of Parma Ellis (17) with Harry Hills (eight), Jason Nicholls (one) and Steve Sharman (12).

Colchester GC’s Millennium Week had started with an Am-Am competition (two of four scores counting), sponsored by The Wine Company.

Clare and David Croger, along with Kim and David Thompson, won with 98 points ahead of Shelley Persent, Mandy Rix, Cassie Cunningham and Sheena Nunny on countback.

Nearest the pin awards were won by Jason Nicholls, Pat Kettle and Carol Lewis.

Cherie Clark with Roy Darby, along with Graham Caughey and Mike Ellis, won the Ladies Invitation Day, sponsored by Salmon Cars with 95 points.

In second were Heather and Roger Dennis, with Philippa Deman and Nigel Morrison (91 points).

Anne Salmon, Mike Kettle, Renate Clarke and John Jeffery were a point behind in third.

Nearest the pins were Vic Pomphrett and Alex Wood, along with Philippa Deman and Sharon Manby.

Stuart Reed, Barrie Cutchie, Reg Allen and David Wrycraft amassed 93 points to win Wednesday’s event, backed by Andy Higgleton Plumbing.

They finished two points clear of Fiona Prentice, Marilyn Free, Alison Cordran and Madryn Abnett.

Nearest the pin winners were Brig Archer and Elaine Elphinstone.

An afternoon shotgun started Thursday’s rain-soaked Men’s Guest Day, a two ball better ball format.

Colchester GC newcomer Stuart Bark and his guest Mike Schneidau won with 48 points.

Mark Westall and Tony Macdonald were second with 46 points with Les Daughtrey, John Redden, Matt Lomas and Rob James were nearest the pin winners.

David Wrycraft, Duncan Stewart along with Jason and Daniel Nicholls returned 88 points, to win Friday’s Progressive.

Second place with 84 points were Russell and Louisa Storey, Ian Parry and Roger Wright.

Steve Freeman and Roger Wright shared nearest the pin on the fourth hole, while Tim Logan, Nerys Horrocks and Liz Bainbridge also achieved the milestone.

The first of two shotgun start Texas Scrambles took place on Saturday morning, with the team handicap calculated as 1/7th of the aggregate handicaps.

The morning’s start was sponsored by Friends of the Elderly and was won on countback by Rob, Nesta and Cai James, along with Harry Hills.

Their final nett score of 55.29 was shared with Bill Eke, Stuart Reed, Mark Westall and John Saunders.

The afternoon start was won by Vic Pomphrett, Barry Haley, Alan Hyde and Dick Bokenham, with 54 points.

In second place with 54.15 nett were John Warren, Miles Hooton, Cai James and Trevor Hooton, with Potter’s Plumbing sponsoring the prizes.
