ROGER Hyman invited all Five Lakes members and staff to his captain’s day.

There were prizes for all sections of the golf club including men, ladies, juniors and staff at the resort and a grand barbecue after the competition.

The staff prizes were taken by Tim Hudson (10) in first place with 35 points, followed by Tom Smith and Keaton Riseborough.

The junior competition was highlighted by an eagle two on a par four from 12-year-old Rhys Baldock (23) and scored 37 points to take first plac from Lewis Cookson (16) on the same score.

Tom Vass (16) was third with 35.

The ladies’ section winner was Di Arnold (23) with 23 points.

Nancy Bradshaw (29) was second with 33, with Carole Lewis (17) third on 30.

The men’s competition attracted the largest number of competitors and some close scoring.

The winner was Steve Pattison (28) with 41 points.

Gary Trim (17), with 39, was second on countback from Mick Gill (11).

Pat McSweeney (12) took fourth place with 37, on countback from Dave Morris (16). The prizes for longest drive nearest the line went to Di Arnold and Tim Hodson.

Nearest the pin prizes for holes four, eight, 11 and 16 were won by Martin Hawes, Carole Lewis, McSweeney and Eric Howlett.

Nearest the the pin in two on the 15th was won by Jack Garnett.

In warm wet conditions 14 pairs of seniors contested the Woodrow Cross Stableford Pairs competition on the Lakes Course.

Greens were true, fast and very consistent enabling players to play pitches close to the pin allowing many of the pairs to return scores of 36 points and better off three-quarter handicap.

Three teams tied on 38 points for second place but Graham Morris and Paul Raymond took the honours, with an unsurpassed return of 42 points.

The nearest the pin competition was won by Tony Tyler at both the eighth and 16th holes.
