CANNONS Basketball Club celebrated the end of another successful season.

There were awards aplenty after a member of their senior team, Karl Birt, was voted as a Suffolk Senior League All-Star.

It was the second time in the club’s history one of their players had received this honour.

The evening gave players and parents of the under-13s team a chance to reflect on their first season together.

They played in the Lions League, based in Chelmsford, where they competed against teams from across Essex.

The award winners were: Cannons I player-of-the-season: Nathan Moss. Cannons II player-of-the-season: Aaron Tidy-Leach. Under-13 player-of-the-season: Alfie Myson-Cherry. Under-13 coaches’ player: Riley LeBron Taylor. Cannon-of the-season: Nick Moodey.

Head coach Chris Tight thanked Kennedy’s Furniture and Frinton Road Butchers for their “generous donations and continued support”.

Chairman Richard Moodey added: “It was great to see so many parents and family members supporting their children at the awards.

“With children from the age of three going all the way up to adult team members, the club have gone from strength to strength.”

Heading into their tenth year, the Clacton-based Cannons will be running three teams next season – the under-11s, under-13s and seniors.

They will also continue to run their popular pay-as-you-play community sessions for both youngsters and adults.
