COLCHESTER United have issued a hands-off warning to any rival clubs looking to prise away midfielder George Moncur.

The U’s are yet to receive bids for any of their players and say they would not welcome interest in any of their squad members, this summer.

Colchester’s League One rivals Swindon Town have been linked with a move for Moncur, whose father John played more than 50 games for the Robins in the 1990s.

Moncur made 46 appearances for the U’s last season and scored their all-important winner in their dramatic final-day victory over Preston North End, which ultimately helped them avoid relegation.

The popular 21-year-old is likely to be a key player for Colchester again this season and the former West Ham United youngster is going nowhere, according to Robbie Cowling.

“We’re a club that encourages progression but we don’t want to let any of our young players go,” said the U’s chairman.

“We haven’t had any offers for any of our players.

“We don’t want to lose players like George Moncur.

“He’s been excellent for us and was a big part of what we did last year.”
