THE first race in Tiptree Road Runners’ Maldon 5K handicap series saw perfect conditions for fast times.

In a field of over 100, of all abilities, the first 30 runners finished under 20 minutes and there was a UK top ranking age-group performance from Dengie 100’s Chris McDonnell.

For the host club, five runners set personal bests – Gary Perryman 20m 38s, Martin Pratley 25m 24s, Zoe Gould 26m 19s, Natalie Bourne 27m 24s and Sean Pope 27m 55s.

Mark Lawes was first home for the club in 20m 31s, with Mark Brewer running 21m 44s, Graeme Moon 22m 5s, Rob Hadgraft 23m 27s, Anthony Knight 24m 55s, Georgina Haskey-Jones 26m 39s, Dawn Shilling 27m 8s and Roger Duffield 31m 32s.

At Monday’s Hatfield Broad Oak 10K, Simon Morgan ran 43m 29s and Abigail Morgan improved her personal best to 48m 22.

On Saturday, Simon completed his 50th Parkrun at Colchester with a time of 24m 52s.

Abigail also finished in 24m 52s.

Zoe Gould ran 28m 29s and Gary Perryman 28m 35s.

Earlier, the hilly off-road Laindon 5K saw Simon finish in 23m 32s, Abigail 28m 3s and Anthony Knight 29m 41s.

James Haskey-Jones took third place at the Maldon Prom Parkrun with a run of 19m 9s, followed by Jonathan Finch in 20m 12s and Paul Dellar in 20m 45s.

Stuart Meddemmen finished in 23m 7s, with Malcolm Bailey running 23m 11s and Peter Bouldstridge improving his personal best to 23m 21s.

Peter Banks ran 32m 23s.

In other Parkruns, Anthony Knight finished the Hockley Woods event in 27m 14s and, at Greenwich, Andrew Goodson finished in 21m 28s with Emma Goodson running 29m 48s.

At the Puff and Pant trail, Malcolm Bailey finished in 1h 46m 35s, with Tina Clarke, Zoe Gould and Anthony Knight running 2h 5m 56s and Wendy Smalley 2h 16m 18s.
