HARWICH Boxing Club hosted a “cracking” 12-bout tournament at the town’s Park Pavilion.

It was their fourth and final show of the season and there were plenty of highlights for the home fans.

One of the main plus-points was Jimmy Preston, who was rewarded with a split points decision against Sonny Waghorn.

He also won the best home boxer trophy.

Rio Gordon made it five wins from five fights, against Louis Hawkins.

Frazer Mann was a unanimous points winner and that was also the outcome for Stevie Martin junior.

Harwich head coach Martin Webb said: “It was good to get our boxers fighting in front of their local fans.

“Jimmy Preston moved to three bouts unbeaten and, on this form, can do well in next month’s Haringey Box Cup, at Alexandra Palace.

“I’m also pleased that our 14-year-olds, Frazer Mann and Rio Gordon, continued their progress, with both having potential to do well in championship competition next season.

“After such a cracking show, we now look forward to our next promotion in Harwich on December 7.”
