Manager Tony Humes says George Moncur is a role model for all youngsters coming through at Colchester United.
The 21-year-old joined the club on a permanent deal earlier this week, having impressed while on loan from West Ham. He has now signed a two-and-a-half year contract, keeping with the U’s until 2017.
And Humes says the midfielder’s enthusiasm and work ethic can rub off on everyone around him – not least the club’s younger players trying to follow in his footsteps.
“We’re absolutely delighted with the way things have turned out,” said U’s boss Humes.
“It’s great for us and it’s great for the player, because this gives him an opportunity to play regular first-team football.
“George has really impressed me in his time at the club.
“He’s got so much character and enthusiasm and he’s a great role model for all the kids at the club, because he works so hard, day in, day out."
