Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire is “hoping” that skipper Kenny Davis will be fit enough to return to action at AFC Telford United in the Vanarama Conference Premier today.

Davis missed the Iron’s 1-0 win against Wrexham last weekend with a groin problem and Devonshire said his captain’s fitness would be assessed ahead of tomorrow’s game, but he was hopeful that he would be involved.

Jordan Cox and Dan Walker will also be tested to see if they have recovered from back and hamstring problems respectively.

The player who took the skipper’s armband in Davis’ absence last week, Ryan Peters, said the result against Wrexham, which ended a ten-game winless run in the league, had been a lift, but knew they had to now push on up the table.

“We had a run of games without a win, but fingers crossed we can build on it and now focus on the games ahead,” he said.

“With the spirit we showed against Wrexham, we can take that into the game at Telford and not rest on our laurels as we need to get something from the game.

“Nothing will change.

“The gaffer likes us to play at a tempo and that’s what we will do through training and into the game.

“It will be exactly the same as it was last week.”
