Colchester United came from behind twice to claim a 2-2 draw with Swindon Town in an entertaining contest at the County Ground this afternoon.

Former U's loanee Michael Smith scored twice for the Robins, only for goals from Rhys Healey and Gavin Massey to cancel out the strikes in the second half as Tony Humes' side extended their unbeaten league run to four matches.

Colchester were largely second best in the opening 45 minutes, with Swindon enjoying the bulk of the possession although much of it came in the hosts' half.

Chances were at a premium but the U's came close to taking a 26th minute lead through Healey, who saw his shot cleared off the line by Jordan Turnbull following Massey's pass.

Less than two minutes later, Colchester were behind.

After initially having a shot blocked by Tom Eastman in the area, Smith slotted home from 12 yards against his former club after Amari’i Bell had picked him out in the area.

The U's went in at half-time trailing but they equalised with the second half less than two minutes old when Healey fired in emphatically inside the box from Massey’s pass.

But Colchester's joy was short-lived.

Less than a minute later, Swindon restored their lead when Smith tapped home from eight yards from Massimo Luongo’s short pass in the area.

However, the goals kept coming and little more than four minutes later, Colchester were on level terms again.

Massey made no mistake at the far post after Healey had unsuccessfully attempted to convert Sears’ ball across the face of the area, to equalise for the U's.

Both teams went for a winner after that, with Sam Walker denying both Smith and Luongo in quick succession and the U's looking dangerous on the break.

Skipper Magnus Okuonghae made a brilliant goal-line stop with eight minutes remaining when he blocked Smith's close-range shot which looked goalbound, after Nathan Byrne had escaped down the U's left and blocked.

But both sides had to settle for a point, as Colchester extended their unbeaten league run.
