Colchester United manager Tony Humes says Dominic Vose needs to do more in “certain areas” to make his starting line-up.
Vose is expected to feature for the U's under-21 side when they host Sheffield Wednesday at the Weston Homes Community Stadium tonight, in their latest Professional Development League Two clash (7pm kick-off).
Vose had been a regular under previous boss Joe Dunne, who brought him to the club on a free transfer last season.
But the former West Ham United youngster is yet to feature under Humes and has so far made only two substitute appearances since Dunne's departure, last month.
Humes said: “At the moment, we’re looking at what our best eighteen is and Dominic needs to work hard to make sure he gets in it.
“We’ve had a good chat with him and there are certain areas that we need more from him, to get himself in the starting XI.”
Drey Wright, Sammie Szmodics and Macauley Bonne are also set to feature for John McGreal's side against the Owls tonight.
