THERE was no doubting the result of the weekend in the Thurlow Nunn League as an Ollie Mann-inspired BRANTHAM ATHLETIC romped to a 4-0 victory at Thetford.

It was an exceptional win for Paul Abrahams’ side, especially at the end of a disappointing week that had seen them lose at home to FC Clacton and knocked out of the League Cup by Braintree Town Reserves.

All four goals came during a one-sided first half as Mann plundered a hat-trick, after the scoring was opened by Ed Nobbs.

After a couple of defeats, WIVENHOE TOWN put another point on the board after drawing 0-0 at home to Fakenham.

Ben Lampon had an effort nodded off the line, while substitute Joe Heron nearly grabbed a late winner – only to be denied by the woodwork.

Dragons boss Mo Osman also admitted he was “fuming” after a couple of penalty appeals didn’t go his side’s way.

FC CLACTON had been in confident, free-scoring form heading into their premier division match at home to Walsham-le-Willows.

Glenn Eldridge’s side had won five in a row – four in the league and one in the Essex Senior Cup.

However, they were brought down to earth after a bitterly disappointing 1-0 defeat at the Rush Green Bowl.

The only goal of a scrappy contest came in the 78th minute.

STANWAY ROVERS were without a fixture on Saturday.

In division one, HALSTEAD TOWN suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to Woodbridge.

BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES slid to a 1-0 defeat at home to Leiston.
