Hannah Ueckermann claims the silver medal she won at the FINA World Masters Championships in Montreal is her greatest achievement in swimming.
The 51-year-old Witham Dolphins swimmer, who is from Maldon, took silver in the women’s 200 metre breaststroke with a swim of three minutes 5.16 seconds against the best 50 to 54 age category swimmers on the planet.
“I said I wanted to get into the top ten before I went,” said Ueckermann, who has come back from a shoulder injury to compete this year.
“But I secretly wanted a podium place, so to come back with a silver medal is wonderful.
“I’ve done a few World Championships now, but this was my first time in this age group and I think this one was my best yet."
