Harrop hails "sensational" Stanway

STANWAY ROVERS manager Angelo Harrop described his side as “sensational” during their 6-0 romp at Haverhill Rovers.

The Hawthorns boss had called for a positive response after Saturday’s Thurlow Nunn League premier division defeat at the hands of Gorleston.

And he certainly got it, following a completely one-sided contest at the New Croft.

New signing Jordan Palmer, who recently joined from Heybridge Swifts, grabbed a hat-trick and he was joined on the score-sheet by Danny Slatter - with a 30-yard thunderbolt - Ray Turner and Richie Meadows.

“It was the best I’ve ever seen us play,” said a delighted Harrop.

“We were absolutely top drawer - literally sensational - and the contest was completely one-sided from start to finish."

Elsewhere, FC CLACTON manager Glenn Eldridge is adamant he can revive the club’s fortunes - when his depleted squad gets back to full-strength.

The Seasiders’ win-less start to the premier division season continued with Tuesday’s 5-1 defeat at home to Felixstowe & Walton.

However, Eldridge is convinced his side will start firing soon, when key players become available again.

“I hate to keep going on about people being injured and unavailable but it’s such a problem for me at the moment,” he said.

BRANTHAM ATHLETIC were pipped 1-0 by premier division leaders and near neighbours Hadleigh United.
