Dominic Vose has set his sights on nailing down a central role for Colchester United.

But the 20-year-old says he is happy to play anywhere on the field, if it means he is in the U’s starting line-up.

Vose has been used predominantly as a wide player by Colchester boss Joe Dunne since joining them, last November.

But the former West Ham United youngster has played in the middle for Colchester, in their last two League One games.

And he admits it is a role that he would like to make his own in the future.

He said: “Centrally, I’m very comfortable and I think as my career goes on I’ll play in that position.

“Throughout my career, I’ve never really had a set position and it’s a case of finding my right position.

“I’d like to play in central midfield ideally.

“But I’m happy to play wide if that’s what the gaffer thinks he needs me to do.

“I’m just happy to be involved in the team at the moment.

“I just want to keep getting in the team and making things happen.”

Vose started the new season on the substitutes bench for Colchester.

But he has started their last two games and established himself as a regular in their starting line-up, last term.

“This is the first time since probably youth-team days at West Ham that I’ve had a good, consistent run in the team.

“I don’t think I’ve got anywhere near my full potential.

“But it’s nice the fans and people around the club appreciate me.

“I haven’t been at the club long and over time here, I think everyone will see a lot more from me.

“I don’t think I’ve hit my peak yet - I’m only 20 years old and I don’t think I’ve shown even half of what I can do yet.

“More games will help and it’s about having the consistency and getting a rhythm going.

“If you have that, you’re always going to get better.”
