Joe Dunne insists he has no intention of changing the way Colchester United play - despite their winless start to the season.

The U’s boss has described their hugely impressive display at Notts County as the best passing performance he has seen from his side in his time as manager.

Colchester were dominant for large periods of the game at Meadow Lane and registered 24 shots on goal, in what was an excellent all-round team display.

However, the U’s came away empty-handed and have managed only a point from their opening three matches in League One.

That has led to criticism from some fans but Dunne is sticking by his beliefs - and is confident Colchester’s first win is just around the corner.

Dunne said: “We won’t change the way we play - I will not change what I believe in.

“We won’t change our philosophy and the players shouldn’t change it, either.

“With more positive performances like this, the results will come.

“The way we play is exactly how we played at Notts County and in our previous games this season.

“It was the best passing performance I’ve had as a manager.

“My team played with belief and movement and my players looked so natural with their game.

“We’ve been consistent with our performances so far but the problem is that we haven't got the results.

“But we have to keep believing and stick together as a group, because if we do that then we’ll win more games.”
