This live event has finished
- We're in Bristol as the red half of the city entertain the U's in a League One clash at Ashton Gate. Both Colchester and Bristol City will be looking to put midweek Capital One Cup exits behind them as they return to league action.
That's it - Colchester lose a game they really could have got something out of.
Having led at half-time and played pretty well, they'll be disappointed to come away with nothing.
See Monday's Gazette for full reaction to this result, with pictures and a full report.
Three exttra minutes here for Colchester to get an equaliser
Sub for Bristol as Wagstaff on for Elliott with 3 mins left
Clohessy squanders great chance after being released by good work from Vose. Composure was lacking this time as he shoots over with goal at his mercy.
Szmodics on for Moncur for Colchester as well.
Substitution for U's as Vose on for Massey and now Holman replaces Ibehre with 74 mins gone
Goal came from 68th minute corner. Sam Walker came to collect, didn't get there and was left stranded as Wilbraham heads home for his second of the game.
GOAL - Bristol City 2 Colchester 1
First roll of the dice comes from Bristol - Marlon Pack on for Luke Freeman and Adam El-Abd on for Greg Cunningham after 64 minutes
U's have responded well to being pegged back and are pressing for a second goal
Aaron Wilbraham turns ball in after U's defence is opened up just after the break.
GOAL = Bristol City equalise within 55 seconds of the restart
Under way here again.
U's deserve that lead. They've contained the hosts well at the back and hit effectively on the counter-attack.
The Robins will be looking for more going forward in the second half though.
That's half-time and it's Bristol City 0 Colchester United 1.
Jabo Ibehre is doing a tremendous job up front for Colchester and wins important ball to set Alex Gilbey on the way fro another attack but his ball forward is a waste.
Just announced that one minute will be added here.
Colchester containing Bristol well at the back and looking to hit on the break. If that's the plan, it's working so far
Oooooh - so close from Ibehre! With Fielding off his line the Colchester striker lifts ball over him but just over the bar as well. Stays 1-0 to the U's
Bristol corner headed goalwards by Flint, but Ben Gordon is on the line to clear the danger with little fuss
Wasteful from Bristol as Mark Little gets free and squares ball with U's defence scrambling back but poor ball is easy for Walker to gather
Freeman lifts free-kick over the bar - dnager passed!!
Foul by Bean on Freeman give Rovbins free-kick 25 yards out in central position - dangerous for U's
Save by Walker from header by Aden Flint. Long free-kick into the box is met well by Flint, but Walker gets down well to make the save. 15 minutes gone here and Colchester lead 1-0.
Freddie Sears ran down a lost cause of a ball into the corner, somehow keeping it in and finding Sean Clohessy. He then did a great job battling into the centre and feeding the ball to George Moncur, who slotted it home. 1-0 and what a boost for the U's that has quietened the home crowd.
GOAL and it's Colchester leading 1-0!!
Early tests for Frankie Kent but good for him to get into the game early. U's get on the attack though now and good ball forward from Bean is only just gathered by Fielding in the Robins goal under pressure from Gavvin Massey
Early pressure on U's back line from the hosts.
We're under way.
U's are wearing their change strip of bright yellow tops with a flash of black across the shoulders, black shorts and yellow and black hooped socks, while the hosts are in their traditional red shirts, white shorts and red socks.
Colchester United and Bristol City teams emerge on to the pitch here at Ashton Gate
Sean Clohessy will take the captain's armband for the U's in the absence of Magnus Okuonghae today at Bristol City.
Begging the pardon of Frankie Kent as this won't be his senior debut - I forgot that he came on as a second-half substitute at Walsall at the end of last season.
My apologies, but it will be his first start - and what a test for the 18-year-old.
He'll be facing an accomplished strike force of Sam Baldock and Aaron Wilbraham so there's a lot on his young shoulders.
Bristol's line-up is the same as the one that won 2-1 at Sheffield United last Saturday in their season's opener.
U's are out on the pitch doing warm-up routines in bright West Country sunshine.
The pitch looks immaculate, but it's a new surface here at Ashton Gate this season that both sides will have to get used to.
Apparently it's a more durable surface that has been laid in preparation for when Bristol Rugby arrive to play games here as well as the Robins.
The Robins line up with: Fielding, Little, Williams, Flint, Smith, Elliott, Baldock (capt), Freeman, Cunningham, Wilbraham, Ayling.
Bristol City have named a much-changed side from the on ethat lost to Oxford in the Capital One Cup in mid-week.
Boss Steve Cotterill has made eight alterations to his side to face the U's.
Sam Walker is back for Chris Lewington in goal, with Marcus Bean starting in place of Dominic Vose and young Frankie Kent makes his senior debut as Magnus Ohuonghae is out after his red card at Charlton.
That's three changes from the side that started the Capital One Cup game at Charlton in midweek.
Now we have the U's team - Walker, Clohessy, Kent, Eastman, Gordon, Gilbey, Bean, Moncur, Massey, Sears, Ibehre.
No team news yet from here at Ashton Gate, but the hosts are putting plenty of water on the playing surface an hour ahead of kick-off.
