New signing Dan Holman can make an immediate impact at Colchester United.

That’s the view of his former boss Alan Devonshire, who believes the striker can hit the ground running at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Holman has penned a two-year deal with the U’s, having chosen not to take up Braintree Town’s offer of re-engagement.

U’s boss Joe Dunne watched Holman play for Iron in the Conference Premier on several occasions.

And Braintree boss Devonshire has no doubt that Dan can be the man for Colchester in League One, in the forthcoming campaign.

Devonshire said: “Dan’s a confident boy and I know he’ll be looking to start the season well.

“If he’s banging in goals in pre-season, then it’ll be hard to leave him out of the team."
