MALDON’S Hannah Ueckermann was delighted that her return from injury was a successful one as she claimed double gold at the British Masters National Swimming Championships in Wales.
And following her two gold medals and a silver in the Wales National Pool in Swansea she is setting her sights on making a splash at the World Masters Championships, which takes place in Montreal in Canada in August.
Ueckermann had some brilliant swims in a highly-competitive field at the National Championships, coming home with gold medals in the 100 metre and 200m breaststroke events as well as earning herself a silver in the 400m freestyle.
The experienced Witham swimmer said: “I was hoping to do well but didn’t expect anything as I had missed last year’s championships due to a shoulder injury.
“I think I over-trained last year and ended up getting the injury so I wasn’t sure how I would come back after a year out and it was also my first year in the over-50s age group.
“It was hard work to get back to the level of fitness I had before the injury, but I was really happy with how I did and was pleased with my times.”
