Former Colchester United captain Brian Wilson has joined their League One rivals Oldham Athletic.
The 31-year-old, who turned down the chance to stay at the U’s last month when he rejected a new contract, has penned a two-year deal with the Latics.
Wilson, who was born in Manchester, had always favoured a return to his native north-west after quitting Colchester.
Wilson knows Oldham manager Lee Johnson from his days at Bristol City, where the pair played together at Ashton Gate.
