Heybridge Swifts’ promotion dream came to an end at Scraley Road.

They were beaten 3-0 by Harlow Town in their Ryman League division one north play-off semi-final on Tuesday night.

But Witham Town secured a 1-0 win against visiting Needham Market when Kris Newby fired in a late goal in the other semi-final.

Witham will now entertain Harlow in the final on Sunday.

Harlow made a strong start at Scraley Road with Heybridge having to clear as Junior Dadson fired in a dangerous ball into the area.

Swifts then had a good chance on 17 minutes when Ben Newson’s effort was blocked by Josh Urquhart.

Dumebi GB-Dumaka then put the ball over the top at the back post from the resultant corner.

But it was Harlow that took the lead on 24 minutes when Alex Read lobbed the advancing Harrison and the ball rebounded down off the bar and in.

Harlow made it 2-0 when Robert King mis-kicked a clearance and the ball fell to Leon Antoine in front of goal for a gift score on 33 minutes.

Harlow increased their lead when Antoine tapped in on 52 minutes after Dadson’s effort was saved.
