Wayne Brown wants Colchester United’s youngsters to round off a memorable season in style tonight.

The U’s youth team are aiming to complete a historic double when they travel to play Bradford City in the Youth Alliance Cup national final (kick-off 7pm).

Colchester will be aiming to win the cup for the first time in their history when they take on the Bantams, at Valley Parade.

And having already secured the south east league title, the U’s are hoping to add to that success this evening.

Brown, who is in charge of the U’s under-18s side along with John McGreal, said: “Tonight is a pat on the back and a bit of recognition for them.

“The lads have done well this season, winning the league and getting into the national cup final.

“They’ve worked hard and some of them have been rewarded with the chance of playing in the first team.

“They want to round off a good season in style and it would be great for them to win something else.

“In games like this, it’s all about holding your nerve.

“You need to do the basics right, especially early on.

“They’re used to playing at places like Florence Park but this is obviously a bit different.

“That’s all part of the learning process as a young player.”
