Devonshire: there's pressure but it's not on us

Gazette: Devonshire: there's pressure but it's not on us Devonshire: there's pressure but it's not on us

Braintree Town boss Alan Devonshire feels the pressure will be on Gateshead rather than his team as the race for the Skrill Premier play-offs reaches its climax tomorrow.

The north east side sit in the box seat of the race for the top-five after the Easter weekend matches, with the Iron just outside in sixth spot. Following their 1-1 draw at Barnet on Monday, Braintree are three points behind Gateshead, who face Cambridge in their final outing, and have a two-goal inferior goal difference.

But while it is his team who have to do all the running as they host Grimsby in their last game of the season at the Amlin Stadium tomorrow (kick-off 5.30pm), Devonshire feels the pressure is on the side in possession of the top-five position already.

He said: “All the pressure is on Gateshead, there’s none on us.

“They know they have to get the result or they could lose the position they hold.

“It’s in their hands."
