The fact that his team secured a point from their trip to Crewe Alexandra was a definite positive for Colchester United boss Joe Dunne.

While the U’s manager would have been happier with three, he was happy to take a single point from their 0-0 draw at Gresty Road as it kept them the right side of the line in the League One relegation fight.

While clear-cut chances were at a premium, both sides had chances to win the game, with U’s Freddie Sears going closest when hitting the post in the second half.

However, both had to be content with a stalemate as Colchester stayed one point above the drop zone with two games to play.

Dunne said: “I’m pleased because it was a really close game.

“We haven’t lost it, that’s for sure and we could have won it.

“Probably the only clear-cut chance was Freddie’s but there are a lot of positives to take from this going into the last two games.”
