Alan Devonshire will be Braintree Town’s manager next season after extending his contract at the club for another season.

The Iron boss’ current deal had been due to run out next month, but he has agreed to stay on for the 2014/15 season – whether that is playing in the Conference Premier or League Two.

And he is looking forward to making further strides forward to add to the huge ones taken this year.

He said: “I’ve signed for another year.

“It’s good to get it sorted, but, to be fair, I would have got it done a while ago.

“It’s done now though and that’s good.

“I’m delighted as I want to try to build on what we’re doing here.”

Braintree continue their attempt to finish in the Conference play-offs this season with a trip to Barnet today and then a home game against Grimsby to finish the regular season on Saturday.
